Laflin Fire now connected to Luzerne County CAD System and "I am responding"

.
The Laflin Fire Department is now one of just a few Luzerne County Fire Departments with Mobile Data Terminals (MDT) connected directly to Luzerne County 911. Units are operating in Laflin Engine 1 and the Squad. Laflin responding vehicles now have all the same information that the dispatcher has available, along with GPS maps and enhanced call info. The vehicles can also show enroute and onscene ...with the press of a button, keeping radio channels clear. The fire vehicles are now also internet "hotspots" with I-Pads available for the company officer and sector commanders that will be connected at all times to the internet. Officers can at any scene access hazardous material and chemical info, weather data, send and receive texts, emails , and more.

In addition the Luzerne County 911 CAD communicates with a web based system called "I am responding" This system sends an immediate text message and email to all members with all dispatch info, often before pagers are activated, info is also displayed on a screen at the station. All company trainings and meetings are also scrolled and automatically emailed to members. Members then press a button on their cell phones and their response is recorded on same screen at station, officers can view screen on their cell phones and drivers immediately know who is on their way and their response time.
